On November 11, 2024, Chitec Technology’s Chiguard® R-455 successfully obtained a patent for “Polymer Structures and Their Applications.” This technology significantly enhances UV yellowing resistance, particularly for polyurethane materials exposed to outdoor environments, addressing a long-standing challenge in weather resistance and providing a more reliable UV protection solution.
The patented polymer structure technology overcomes traditional limitations in the amount of UV absorbers added to materials. By applying a light shielding layer that is only 5 to 200 micrometers thick and contains a high concentration of UV absorbers, the technology dramatically improves UV protection while maintaining high visible light transmittance. Chiguard® R-455 not only resolves the weather resistance issues of polyurethane materials but is also versatile, with applications in electronics, solar panels, vehicle wraps, building exteriors, optical lenses, military equipment, and explosion-proof panels. This technology offers stable, long-term UV protection in harsh environments, maintaining both material transparency and appearance quality.
