ECHA Adds Triphenyl Phosphate (TPhP) to SVHC Candidate List
On November 7, 2024, the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) officially added Triphenyl Phosphate (TPhP) to the Substances of Very High Concern (SVHC) Candidate List.
The primary reason for this inclusion is TPhP's endocrine-disrupting properties, which pose potential environmental risks (under Article 57(f) of the REACH Regulation). This update increases the total number of substances on the SVHC Candidate List to 242.
TPhP is widely used as a flame retardant and plasticizer, commonly found in various industrial and consumer products. Its applications include plastics, electronics, and other materials requiring enhanced flame resistance.
