Chiguard^® GA403 (GA403) is a novel UV blocker derived from vanillin. It has remarkably high absorption in the UV-A wavelength region.

• At 1500 ppm loading in 1 mm thick PET film, GA403 can easily block UV light below 400 nm and up to 405 nm. This indicates that GA403 will have a low impact on the initial color.

1. Insolubility in Common Food Ingredients:

   • Passed food contact migration tests in:
     • 10% ethanol
     • 3% acetic acid
     • Vegetable oil
   • Currently under application for U.S. Food Contact Substance (FCS) notification.

2. Compatibility with Plastics:

   • Despite low solubility, GA403 exhibits high compatibility with plastics such as:
     • PET
     • PC
     • PA
     • PMMA
     • PE

3. Heat Stability:

   • Exceptional heat stability allows usage in plastics processed at temperatures over 300°C, such as PET, PC, and PA.

Chiguard^® 380W is recommended for use alongside GA403 to create a high efficiency and broad coverage UV blocking system.
