Revonox® 420V is Chitec Technology’s innovative, phenol-free antioxidant derived from palm oil, offering a sustainable alternative to traditional tallow-based antioxidants.
Revonox® 420V is an eco-friendly antioxidant developed by Chitec Technology. As a phenol-free antioxidant derived from natural palm oil, it offers a sustainable solution to replace traditional tallow-based or phenolic antioxidants in plastic applications. Revonox® 420V stands out with its excellent melt processing stability, enhanced gas fading resistance, and outstanding color retention performance.
Using Chitec’s proprietary DAHA® technology, Revonox® 420V solves yellowing problems commonly found in phenolic antioxidants, making it an ideal choice for polyolefin antioxidants, especially in polypropylene (PP) and polyethylene (PE).
This high-performance antioxidant additive pairs well with phosphate ester antioxidants and light stabilizers like Deox 68 and Chiguard® 228. Together, they improve melt stability, weather resistance, and long-term durability in PP and PE-based applications such as fibers, films, and automotive TPO.

Outstanding Extrusion Stability
As antioxidants are depleted during multiple extrusions, they lose their ability to protect polyolefins under thermal stress. Here’s how 420V excels under testing conditions:
- Polymer: PP (homopolymer, MFI = 5.5)
- Processing Conditions: Multiple extrusions using a twin-screw extruder (35 mm diameter, L/D = 36) at 230°C and 2.16 kg pressure, with melt flow rate (MFR) measured every 10 minutes
- Formula: 0.1 phr 420V and 0.1 phr Deox 68
In tests using traditional antioxidants, the melt flow index (MFI) surged from 9.78 to 42.80 during repeated extrusions, indicating severe material degradation. By contrast, the addition of 420V limited the MFI increase to 19.45, significantly enhancing stability. With 420V and Deox 68 combined, the melt flow rate change (ΔMFR) further dropped to 11.79, showing exceptional processing stability and a longer material lifespan.
Long-Lasting Color Stability at High Temperatures
Chitec conducted high-temperature aging tests on PP, exposing samples to 150°C for 6 days to compare color stability across different antioxidants.
- Left: Samples containing 0.1 phr phenolic antioxidants and Deox 68 showed noticeable yellowing, indicating poor color stability under prolonged high heat.
- Right: Samples with 0.1 phr 420V and Deox 68 maintained excellent color stability with minimal yellowing, underscoring 420V's superior performance in high-temperature aging environments.
