Chiguard^® 5431: High-Temperature UV Protection

Chiguard^® 5431 belongs to the substituted benzotriazole family, providing effective protection against ultraviolet radiation. Compared to other Chitec UV absorbers, Chiguard^® 5431 has very low volatility, making it especially suitable for applications involving high-temperature processes.

Applications

Chiguard^® 5431 is most suitable for polymer production where additive losses may occur during high-temperature processing. It has been widely used in:

• ✅ High-performance plastics

Recommended Usage

A dosage of 0.3%–3% of Chiguard^® 5431 is recommended for effective UV protection.

The light stability of polymers can be further enhanced by combining Chiguard^® 5431 with:

• 🔹 Phenolic antioxidants (e.g., DEOX 10 and 76)
• 🔹 Hindered amine light stabilizers (e.g., Chiguard^® 770 and 944)
